The Golf Trust has agreed a formal partnership with one of the UK’s largest full-service law firms, Irwin Mitchell. This agreement is an extension of the informal relationship the two have built in recent years through adhoc referrals of Irwin Mitchell clients to The Golf Trust’s services.
“Irwin Mitchell has an excellent reputation and has helped many of the Golf Trust’s beneficiaries access the support that they need away from the golf course,” comments Founder of the Golf Trust Cae Menai-Davis. “This is a partnership that will work both ways. More of Irwin Mitchell’s clients will be signposted to our taster sessions and we will be able to direct our beneficiaries to the right people to get them any legal support that they need. I am really pleased to be working with them and developing our relationship.”
Irwin Mitchell’s employees have already attended Golf Trust sessions and have volunteered their time to support events at The Shire, London where Irwin Mitchell client, Dan Green, will be taking part in the first round of The Golf Trust’s fundraising challenge ‘Going the Extra Mile’. This six-day epic golf challenge to raise money to purchase three new paragolfers. These all-terrain wheelchairs allow people with disability to stand up to play golf and through a referral to The Golf Trust, have enabled Dan to play golf with his family again after serious injury.

Dan Green, referred to The Golf Trust through Irwin Mitchell
Dan Green, Irwin Mitchell client who is taking part in the Going the Extra Mile Challenge commented: ““I’m really pleased to be taking part in the Going the Extra Mile challenge. It’s great to be able to take part in something that helps others in a similar situation to me.
Golf has really helped me get through particularly challenging times so to work with a company that are trying to raise money to help make golf accessible to all feels special and of course, always wonderful to work with Irwin Michell again, it shows how much they care about their clients and are committed to supporting them even after claims have been settled.”
The Golf Trust means a lot to clients like Dan, specialist equipment like the paragolfer helped Dan continue to have access to golf after a complication went undetected and restricted the blood flow to his legs during a surgery. This led to a below-the-knee amputation of his right leg and a nerve injury, causing foot drop in his left leg leaving him unable to work and needing care and assistance and specially adapted equipment to help him with daily living tasks.

Louise Forsyth, a legal director and expert medical negligence lawyer at Irwin Mitchell, said: “At Irwin Mitchell we believe in building strong links with charities and organisations that align with our values.
“We’re delighted to forge this partnership with The Golf Trust and sponsor its Going the Extra Mile campaign as we support Dan.
“Through our work we see the crucial role that sport can play in a person’s rehabilitation. The Golf Trust carries out great work in helping make golf accessible to everyone, including those with life-changing injuries who may have thought their golfing days were over.
“It’s really inspiring to be able to work with the charity even closer with this partnership and see what we can achieve together.”
